Avengers #1 (Marvel) I’m kinda speechless. I expected a good issue from Hickman, but this…wow. Just wow. Perfect first issue. It gave me chills. The art is stunning. Rating: BUY IT Hellboy in Hell #1 (Dark Horse) I’m years behind in my Hellboy universe reading, but I picked this up hoping to have it as a good jumping on point. There is a nice summary of what happened to get us here and the issue doesn’t leave you wondering what is going on. Incredible art as always and a chilling first issue left me wanting more. Rating: BUY IT Thunderbolts #1 (Marvel) I didn’t love the art in this book, it’s not bad, just not a style I enjoy that much. Good fist issue putting the team together, but for me it’s not a team or a premise I care that much about. I think a lot of big Marvel fans will like this issue, but as a lapsed reader it didn’t do enough to draw me in for a second issue. Rating: SKIM IT Blackacre #1 (Image) I love post societal books and this one doesn’t fail to deliver. Solid art work, good first issue script. I’m very interested to see where this story goes.
