I’m with Joe on East of West. Sci FI – love it, Western – love it, Hickman – love it… East of West, I have no idea. With his other stuff I was confused but intrigued, SHIELD and Manhattan Projects both had an allure to the confusion. But this one I want to like it more than I actually did. I actually think Hickman has developed a world that would have been better suited for 2000 AD. As fresh as it felt, it still felt derivative of Stephen King (who I don’t love either). Hope it improves and clarifies to match its pedigree. The art was amazing though!
BTW Yancy Street Gang… perfect choice. I love that you guys love them for the same reasons I love them. My favorite comic relief has to be Dr. Dinosaur in Atomic Robo. I love the couple of issues where he is pulling the megalomaniac routine and Atomic Robo is discrediting every part of his back story and plausibility of his plot.
