THN COVER TO COVER IS DEAD. LONG LIVE THE THN COVER TO COVER GANG HANG AND THE RETURN OF NERD NEWS!
Some big(-ish) changes are coming to the Ziggurat! What are they? We’re so glad you asked! Here’s the breakdown:
The Dipshits of Doofus Street…or something like that?
- After many years and at least one title change (remember the Answer of the Week?), THN Cover to Cover will cease to exist in its current podcast form. The episode recorded on 2/11/23 will be the last. BUT, this isn’t the end…
- Cover to Cover will still continue from 11AM – Noon Central time on Saturdays as the THN Cover to Cover Gang Hang! This will be a Discord-exclusive party happening in the Cover to Cover Gang Hang voice channel. No more Zoom links! Just a bunch a nerds having a hang, talking comics, movies/TV, video games, the Question of the Week, and whatever else strikes our fancy. You can come talk, or hang out in the chat, with no pressure or expectations. No more worrying about staying on topic to make it more palatable for mass consumption; anything goes!
- Technology willing, we’ll even open up the room to group discussion, instead of making you come in one at a time. The best part is that the Gang Hang room is open at all times, so feel free to pop in and voice chat any time and hang out with your fellow Listenerds, with or without Joe and Matt!
- For those of you that still want to be able to listen to the Gang Hang but can’t be there when it happens, we’ll record it every week and post it on the site, Discord, and elsewhere so you can download it and listen at your convenience. The recording is going to be completely bare bones, no editing of any kind, and it’ll just be a link for you all to download the mp3. The days of Matt spending the equivalent of a week’s work at a part-time job editing podcasts is over. His physical, mental, and marital health depend on it! It will NOT be posted in the podcast feed – that’s just for our edited content.
- NOTHING will change for the new comic book and Cosmic Longbox review shows! And we’ll still be incorporating YOU into the show like we always have. Are you looking for a new read, have a question only a two-headed nerd can answer, got a hot take? You can call the THN Hotline (402-819-4894) and leave a message or send an MP3 to [email protected] and we’ll put you on the show! And of course, you can always just ask it in the appropriate channel on the Discord. You can also expect your favorite Love Slaves to return for segments like Take a Look It’s In a Book Club, Who the Hell Is THIS GUY, Swords & Scrolls/Toots Time, Slack Issues, etc.
- FINALLY, it’s the return of NERD NEWS! You asked and we listened: Nerd News is BACK. Matt and I will have a regular sit down to discuss the week’s biggest nerdy news, review the latest shows and films for Nerd TV/Nerd at the Movies, interview exciting creators, or whatever else we feel needs talking about! This will be recorded, edited, and released in podcast form, so you’ll be able to find it in the feed with the review shows, just like you did with Cover to Cover.
I think that just about covers it! We absolutely love hanging out with you nerds on Saturdays, but the truth is that writing, recording, editing, and posting TWO 1-2 hour long shows every week (okay, MOST weeks) takes a tremendous amount of time and energy for two married dudes with full-time jobs. We also understand how Cover to Cover in its current form might be tough for some listeners to get into if they aren’t as familiar with our chaotic shenanigans. Add in the fact that a LOT of you have been asking us to bring back Nerd News and this move feels like the best path forward…for NOW. If there’s one thing you can say about us, it’s that we’ve never met a format that we didn’t want to change eventually.
